Undergraduate Student Representative
Maitreyee Joshi is a senior studying Computer Science, with minors in Drama and International Relations and Politics, at Carnegie Mellon University. She currently serves as the Vice President of External Affairs on the Pittsburgh Student Government Council and the President of Student Senate at CMU. Besides student government, Maitreyee is involved in Greek Life, Club Soccer, Mock Trial, UNICEF, Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Council, and the School of Computer Science Alumni Advisory Board. Furthermore, she is working on an honors thesis on retinal prosthetics to restore sight to the blind.
Graduate Student Representative
Surya D. Aggarwal is a fourth year PhD Candidate in the Hiller Lab at Carnegie Mellon University, where he studies the molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and pathogenesis of the bacterium, Streptococcus pneumoniae. Surya currently serves as the Vice President of External Affairs for Carnegie Mellon’s Graduate Student Assembly. He also serves as the Chair of Advocacy Board, and the International Student Concerns Advocate for the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS). Surya is a theatre enthusiast, and misses his days directing and acting in dramatics productions during his undergraduate years.
